Fontana Hotel initiate a campaign to support provision of clean safe freshwater

A FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN IS INITIATED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF WATER COOPERATION 2013

Fontana Hotel Bali starts a Fundraising Campaign to be donated for Water Projects

(BALI, INDONESIA – 18 February 2013) FONTANA HOTEL initiates a fundraising campaign in conjunction with United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation 2013. This is the first attempt of Fontana Hotel to do a company social responsibility program since its grand opening on 15 December 2012.

“We want to do something that can distinguish us in the market,” said Wayan Supandi, the General Manager of Fontana Hotel. Wayan’s words have been translated into some future activities that are not just selling the product and services of Fontana Hotel, but also to mark the existence of the hotel itself; this fundraising campaign is just the beginning.

Fontana Hotel, which the architecture was designed by the environmentalist Popo Danes, realizes that environmental issue is really important. It sees that water is essential to life and human, but the water resources on the planet are limited and unevenly distributed in time and space. While the demands for water are increasing in order to satisfy the needs of growing world population. Additional pressure related to rapid urbanization, pollution and climate change also threatens the resource.

“As we all probably know, World Water Day is an international day to celebrate freshwater, which falls on 22 March every year. We use this opportunity to advocate about the importance of water issue. Each and anyone of Fontana Hotel’s employees involves in this campaign. We do the advocacy by sending personal email to our friends, colleagues, anyone we know. We tell them about the Water Cooperation 2013 and let them learn that there are more than 800 million people around the world do not have access to clean, safe freshwater,” mentioned Astrid Prahitaningtyas, the Marketing Communication Manager of Fontana Hotel. She said that the idea is very simple, beside the advocacy they do, Fontana Hotel and its employees also ask people to donate USD 1 for water projects.

The process of donation is not complicated. People only need to access Fontana Hotel’s Campaign page at the website of charity: water, and go further from there. People can directly donate to the organization that funds many water projects around the world. The donation is made by charging to credit card or PayPal account.

“We have set a target as amount as USD 2,000 to be collected during the campaign, which rolls from 24 February to 31 March 2013. With the donation of USD 1, it means that we need 2,000 persons to get involved. We genuinely hope that this idea will encourage everybody to join this campaign and widely celebrate the meaning of the International Year of Water Cooperation 2013,” said Astrid. The amount of donation can be checked by anyone at Fontana Hotel’s campaign page at http://mycharitywater.org/-1-for-freshwater.
